On Children’s day we traveled to Dali to officially open and make a small donation the Senjimeiduo library
This was the first step in our stage one of the donation, we then left for the school which took a grueling 8hr drive past some of the most beautiful country ever seen
After picking up teacher Ben, we set off to meet with some local children at the nearby Buddhist temple school to get their blessings for the rest of the donation and trip
On arrival at the school the students we so eager to meet with us that they gave short performance of “So, this is Christmas” in English
The following day we did the books donation and presented the school with over 700 hundred books in English and Chinese
They were so keen to get their hands on new books that we had to hold a short reading class, which they totally loved
Even to the point that Kaitlyn (my daughter) wanted to be a teacher for the day
Anyhow after the day of opening boxes, reading lessons and musical performance form the students, were taken to the library to see some of the art work done by the students and where the books will be kept
Time had run out, we had to head back to the nearest town so we could start on our way home, before we left we were treated to some farewell tea by a family before we set off again
STAGE 1 went well, they are very keen for STAGE 2 – curriculum based textbooks so that they can improve across all their subjects, and wish to give a big thank you to all the people who have supported One Million Words with this project.
